The Battery Management System (BMS) in energy storage system is an important component to ensure the safety and stable performance of energy storage systems. It is a system used for monitoring, controlling, and protecting batteries. There are currently three main types of BMS technologies on the market, including distributed BMS, centralized BMS, and modular BMS.
1、Distributed BMS:Distributed BMS integrates the monitoring and control of each battery cell within the battery cell, and transmits information to the main controller through communication protocols. The biggest difference between it and centralized BMS is that each battery cell has an independent monitoring and control system, and there is no need for information exchange between them.
2、Centralized BMS: Centralized BMS concentrates the monitoring and control of all battery cells in one main controller, and transmits information to the main controller through communication protocols.
3、Modular BMS: Modular BMS divides a battery cell into several modules, each with an independent monitoring and control system, and transmits information to the main controller through communication protocols.
The future BMS technology will place greater emphasis on improving real-time monitoring and control capabilities, as well as standardizing and unifying communication protocols to enhance device compatibility and interoperability among different manufacturers. Choosing a suitable battery management system can improve the safety of the entire energy storage system.
