The Battery Management System (BMS) in energy storage systems is a system designed specifically to control the charging and discharging effects of batteries, monitor battery temperature and humidity environmental conditions, etc. It can monitor potential hazards such as overcharging and high temperature in batteries, and make a reasonable evaluation of the current and future operating status of batteries, thereby avoiding battery failures and safety accidents to a certain extent. The energy storage BMS has the following technical requirements:
1、Strong battery balance management capability to ensure consistency in battery performance. Due to the need for deep charging and discharging and long cycle life in energy storage systems, high requirements are placed on the consistency of battery performance. In order to ensure consistent performance of each individual battery in the battery pack, the energy storage BMS needs to have strong battery balancing management capabilities, so active balancing technology is generally required.
2、Equipped with parallel control function for battery clusters to prevent circulation and enable single cluster maintenance.
3、Having high reliability and fault tolerance to meet the high requirements of energy storage systems for safety, reliability, and long lifespan.
4、Has strong anti-interference ability, efficient data processing ability, fast response speed, and large capacity data storage capability. Due to the characteristics of high voltage, high power, big data, and severe interference, BMS has put forward extremely high requirements in product design, requiring good anti-interference ability, efficient data processing ability, fast response speed, and large capacity data storage ability.
5、We need higher precision indicators such as SOC. For energy storage systems on the grid side or new energy side, the BMS needs to have dual or multi grid redundancy functions. In frequency regulation application scenarios, SOC and other indicators directly participate in scheduling decisions, so high-precision SOC indicators need to be ensured.
6、Having fast response capabilities, including the ability to handle complex protocols, fast response speed, and the ability to collaborate with more auxiliary devices, as well as the need to provide more DI/DO interfaces.
Driven by the rapid growth of the energy storage market, the installed capacity of energy storage BMS will significantly increase, and it is expected that the future energy storage BMS market will reach a scale of over 10 billion yuan. The future development trend will be the standardization and intelligence of energy storage BMS, as well as the localization of major components.
